Position

Heather has over 15 years experience in the legal sector and advises clients in the public and private sector on a wide range of property matters. Heather specialises in commercial development advising developers, landlords, business owners and public bodies including a number of local educational establishments. Heather acts for a range of well known businesses in the local area and takes an active part in the local business community. Key clients include Clowes Group, Peveril Securities, Langham Park Developments and Derby College. Significant deals: letting to retail giant Marks & Spencer Plc of a 1 million square feet distribution centre for their e-commerce at East Midlands Distribution Centre, Castle Donington, acting on behalf of the Clowes Group. Heather’s recent highlights include; development agreement and lease of 500,000 square feet of distribution space (new build) at Castlewood Business Park to the Co-operative Group together with onward sale of the investment to Standard Life, acting on behalf of the Clowes Group; also at Castlewood Business Park on behalf of Clowes agreement for lease and lease of 60,000 square feet of distribution space (new build) to Meridian Lightweight Technologies; acting on behalf of Peveril Securities acquisition of South Quay, Hayle Harbour, Cornwall for the construction of a circa 53,000 square feet food store, retail units; acting for Langham Park Developments agreement for lease and lease to McDonalds and onward sale of the investment at South Normanton; acquisition of land at Hudson Way for the development of 3,900 square metres for Derby College’s Pride Park construction skills centre.

Career

Trained Flint Bishop LLP; qualified 1997; partner 2003. Heather joined the Sheffield office of national law firm Nabarro LLP in 1999. Heather returned to Flint Bishop in 2002 and was made partner in Commercial Property in 2003.

Member

Heather is a trustee of Derwent Stepping Stones based in Derby which provides pre-school child care, adult learning support and has recently established a training academy. Heather has recently been appointed as a Governor of Ecclesbourne School, based in Duffield.

Ecclesbourne School, Duffield, 1983-90; Cardiff University, 1990-93 (LLB 2(1)); College of Law, Chester, 1994 (LPC distinction); Bristol University, 1995 (LLM).

Leisure

Heather has two children, aged 11 and 7 and at weekends enjoys watching the boys play a range of sports. Heather enjoys gardening, skiing and walking and for two years running took part in 100km walk across the Yorkshire Dales for Oxfam.
