A police incident has shut a stretch of the A30 in Cornwall through the night.

It has been confirmed that a man scaled a power line at Crowlas on Monday evening.

Negotiators were still at the scene on Tuesday, where more than 100 homes were left without power.

The road remained closed across rush-hour, however it has since reopened and the major diversion has now been lifted.

"We were called to concerns for the welfare of a male on the A30.

"We've been negotiating with the male for a period of time.

"Whilst those negotiations are taking place we've put a temporary closure on the A30.

"The western end of the closure is the A30 at the A394 for the junction with Newtown.

"Negotiations are still ongoing at this time".
