Flooding could be a thing of the past

Thursday, November 05, 2009, 10:30

HAYLE'S flooding problem will soon be a thing of the past, according to Cornwall Council.

Problems
in the underground drainage system have regularly left the road outside
Atlantic Motors under several inches of water following heavy rain.

But following a recent survey, officials say they have found the culprit.

A
spokesman for the council said: "In addition to the jetting and
flushing works previously carried out, a further detailed examination
has now been completed.

"This has identified a
crushed pipe which requires excavation and repair which will now be
undertaken at the earliest opportunity.

"The council apologises for any inconvenience caused."
