HAYLE PENWITH U3A:

Hayle U3A has the following programme this week.  Today, Thursday February 9, at 10am there is games then at 12.30pm for 1pm the U3A luncheon takes place at Lowennac Hotel, Camborne TR14 8SL.  On Tuesday February 14 at 10am there is Art then at 1.30pm the Film club meets. All sessions except Writing are held in the Philip Smith annexe to the Hayle Day Care Centre.  The Writing is held in Hayle Library.

HAYLE FILM CLUB:

Carmen Jones. Saturday February 11 at 7.30pm

A classic musical with a huge history. Bizet's opera Carmen was adapted to a Second World War African-American setting by Hammerstein, and then filmed starring Harry Belafonte and Dorothy Dandridge - a role that made her the first black woman to be nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. A very daring film for the times, supported this year as part of the BFI's Black Star season.

As ever, at the Passmore Edwards Institute, house lights down at 7.30pm. Tickets £5/£4 for members, reserve on 01736 752319.

HAYLE YOUTH PROJECT:

Hayle Youth Project is running a three day art project in partnership with the Tate St. Ives. Held at the Hayle Youth Centre in High Lanes Monday February 13 to Wednesday February 15 from 10am to 3pm. Open to 11-16 year olds the workshops are free.  Working with a local artist participants will create a living sculpture. Monday includes a trip to the Barbara Hepworth Museum. Bring a packed lunch. HAYLE LIBRARY:

Are you or do you know someone who is living with sight loss? On Monday March 6 Hayle library is hosting an iSight Cornwall awareness day. The iSight team will be offering advice and information about their services and other services available in the community for people living with sight loss. They will be demonstrating equipment that's available to promote and maintain independence as well as accessible smart phones, tablets and electronic magnifiers. They will be able to advise on any benefits that might be available and any clubs or activities that are in your area.  So, please come along and see what's available between 10am and 3pm. HAYLE HERITAGE CENTRE:

ST. ELWYN'S CHURCH:

On Sunday February 12, the third Sunday before Lent the Parish Eucharist will be celebrated by the Reverend Rosemary Wickremasinghe at 9.30am.

On Wednesday February 15, Said Eucharist will be celebrated by the Reverend Malcolm Uren at 10am. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after each service.

ST.JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, HAYLE:

St Joseph's Church in Hayle is part of the Roman Catholic Parish of the Holy Family. Father Philip said the Sunday Mass on Saturday at 6.30 p.m. 5th Sunday in Ordinary time (A1 Psalter 4) Getting the right balance.
