Ken Townend An accident waiting to happen. Some nipper, running or cycling, out of there, straight into traffic. All traffic coming from PZ way will be looking Right for oncoming traffic. Sorry but unless the roundabout is to be changed, it is a dangerous move by HTC.

David W Raymer This is what I said to the Council many months ago that the path to the roundabout was totally wrong. It is an accident waiting to happen . As has been said drivers will be looking to the right as they come from Pz and not see the pedestrian cyclist coming from the Asda Direction . This was another County decision I think but approved by Hayle Town Council if I am not mistaken ?

Graham Coad No snags with the IDENTICAL crossing with island between Lloyds and Barclays, just as close to the roundabout and we've all been using that for years....
Amanda Chard Graham Coad Sorry I have to disagree with you, Lloyds and Barclays might be o.k at quieter times of day but not ideal (especially for senior citizen's, disabled and those with young children) It's not always easy as a courteuos driver to stop on a roundabout to let people cross.This new path from ISIS is a really bad idea, on the main road!! Just feel in general that in various places in Hayle more thought need's to be given to improving/providing pavements for pedestrians safety,they need to reflect the traffic of 2016.
Graham Coad People coming from or going to ASDA on foot can use the lights controlled crossings outside ASDA, or the ones on Penpol Terrace by Roma Court, especially if they are the more vulnerable classes you mention, this new route is optional for the more able and confident pedestrians.
The B3301 west to east road (old A30) AND the B3302 Foundry to Helston road are BOTH "Main" roads, neither is more "main" then the other, yet checking the road accident history shows no accidents on the uncontrolled crossings already in existence.
People cross the roads he length of Hayle every day at places with no controlled crossings..they wait for gaps in traffic.

Amanda Chard Graham Coad Agree sign's would help (especially for people on holiday who are not aware of alternative route's) Just think it's more dangerous when 3 way traffic are negotiating the roundabout.

Paul Birch The plants will be going in next week. Al the works are completed so they can carry out the planting.
Elaine James Staggered railings across by the granite posts would seem the minimum immediate adjustment.
Ken Townend Totally agree with staggered railings. Some moron is bound to try to drive up there. Just imagine the Sat Nav saying, "Take the first Exit, Off the Roundabout", when they are driving from PZ.

Ken Townend I cannot believe HTC did not have any say on this. If not then why bother having you. So many things going wrong and HTC never put their hands up to say we got it wrong.

Nick Farrar Hi Sam, I'm going to wait until it is finished to judge what my reaction will be, we don't know what if any safety measures are planned, I'm not going to guess or contribute anymore until I've had time to see it for myself and look again at the plans we were shown some time ago. Ken Townend Never saw it. But still a totally incompetent idea that HTC should have fought against. They knocked the wall down when doing the bridge I believe. The iron railings went missing and some Numpty, most likely decided then, it would be a great idea to have an entrance, straight onto a busy roundabout. When the first accident happens, no doubt you will all deny you ever wanted it. Are they going to alter the roundabout? (I know, how about a Pelican Crossing over it. That, HTC, is about as stupid an idea as the opening is).

Ken Townend It is very different Graham. As on this one, the drivers approaching it will have their attention on traffic from the right, and may miss someone exiting from the gardens. Most local drivers hopefully, will know the new crossing, but summer visitors in their rush to get from A to B, may not be as careful.
Ana Coelho Bailie Why did they use so much concrete/ cement or whatever?? Specially on those walls, couldn't have they been built purely with stones? It looks awful. Concrete garden. Poor design.

Graham Coad Hardly anyone objected to the plans though Beryl, which is what I mean.. you have to write to or email the planning department or comment directly on the plans on the Cornwall Council Planning website.

For the benefit of shoppers, casual users of South Quay, and to benefit the existing shops and businesses in Foundry area, it was proposed to open a thoroughfare to directly link South Quay with Foundry Square so that it is an integrated public area for the benefit of all, and to compensate the existing traders by encouraging more footfall from amongst ASDA shoppers.
I personally think it will be great for the town, and that the architect will be praised when it's all complete.
Whereas some of the Hayle Town Councillors suggested some alterations, which were taken into account, I don't recall anyone speaking against the overall scheme.

Sharon Johnson one thing I did notice is there is no drainage provided to catch the water that will run off the concrete slope straight onto the road.....
