Sharon Johnson
Sharon Johnson why has the isis gardens suddenly gained a vehicle entrance
David Clemo
Graham Coad
Graham Coad Its a pedestrian link....
Brian Capper
Brian Capper It is not a vehicle entrance, just a wide pedestrian access.
David Clemo
David Clemo With no pavement access? And on a roundabout?
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish Apparently it's so people can exit gardens and cross road there. Rather them than me.
Tania Grey
Tania Grey God, I wish they would block that back up, it's an accident waiting to happen...
David W Raymer
David W Raymer Are they going to put railings up alongside the road to stop people going onto the road ? This will also be a hazard to motorist negotiating the RAB .
Paul Rawsthorne
Paul Rawsthorne I guess they are estimating that more people will be living under the bridge, now that teresa notfkinjune will be PM
Paul Rawsthorne
Paul Rawsthorne But we could TAKE BACK CONTROL and any car from st ives could be sent via high lanes, bloody scaleybacks
Tracey Harrison
Beryl Bez Smith Curran
Ken Townend
Ken Townend An accident waiting to happen. Some nipper, running or cycling, out of there, straight into traffic. All traffic coming from PZ way will be looking Right for oncoming traffic. Sorry but unless the roundabout is to be changed, it is a dangerous move by HTC.
Graham Coad
Graham Coad Cornwall Council...
Ken Townend
Ken Townend Typical. Answer from HTC.
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish Dunno about roundabout changes. Our Graham might know.
David W Raymer
David W Raymer This is what I said to the Council many months ago that the path to the roundabout was totally wrong. It is an accident waiting to happen . As has been said drivers will be looking to the right as they come from Pz and not see the pedestrian cyclist coming from the Asda Direction . This was another County decision I think but approved by Hayle Town Council if I am not mistaken ?
Graham Coad
Graham Coad Yes by a whisker....
Ken Townend
Ken Townend So who voted for it. At least we know who to blame when the inevitable happens. More pictures in the Cornishman eh!
Jerry Sparks
Jerry Sparks Another Great idea like the old quay one way system !!?
David W Raymer
David W Raymer Are they considering putting Railings at the road side if so it might help but would be a danger for vehicles negotiating the RAB .
Ju Lawry
Ju Lawry I remember Graham Coad saying it's all going to join together with a crossing on the roundabout not feeling it tho myself an accident waiting to happen me thinks
Graham Coad
Graham Coad No snags with the IDENTICAL crossing with island between Lloyds and Barclays, just as close to the roundabout and we've all been using that for years....
Amanda Chard
Amanda Chard Graham Coad Sorry I have to disagree with you, Lloyds and Barclays might be o.k at quieter times of day but not ideal (especially for senior citizen's, disabled and those with young children) It's not always easy as a courteuos driver to stop on a roundabout to let people cross. This new path from ISIS is a really bad idea, on the main road!! Just feel in general that in various places in Hayle more thought need's to be given to improving/providing pavements for pedestrians safety, they need to reflect the traffic of 2016.
Graham Coad
Graham Coad People coming from or going to ASDA on foot can use the lights controlled crossings outside ASDA, or the ones on Penpol Terrace by Roma Court, especially if they are the more vulnerable classes you mention, this new route is optional for the more able and confident pedestrians.

The B3301 west to east road (old A30) AND the B3302 Foundry to Helston road are BOTH "Main" roads, neither is more "main" then the other, yet checking the road accident history shows no accidents on the uncontrolled crossings already in existence.

People cross the roads he length of Hayle every day at places with no controlled crossings..they wait for gaps in traffic.

I understand there may be new road signs and markings to come, hope so.
Amanda Chard
Amanda Chard Graham Coad Agree sign's would help (especially for people on holiday who are not aware of alternative route's) Just think it's more dangerous when 3 way traffic are negotiating the roundabout.
Stu Bert Clatworthy
Stu Bert Clatworthy Call it a hunch, but this "pedestrian access" seems like another brainchild of the individual in charge of the white lines on the roundabout at Carwin Rise and the awesome cycle way improvements at lelant!
Makes me chuffed to bits to see my horrendous council tax spent so wisely ??
Keith Letchford
Keith Letchford It actually looked good already, looking down from the train window returning from Paddington yesterday. It's easy to forget that this is the main view of our town that many visitors see.
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish Unless they are on other side of train ;)
Sally James
Sally James Still no sign of plants then? No actual gardening going on in the gardens
Graham Coad
Graham Coad It's not finished yet Sally.....got to get the walkways and low walls finished first...
Sally James
Sally James why do they need walls? Just plant something!!!
Graham Coad
Graham Coad "When to plant trees and shrubs

Planting is best done between October and April. Avoid planting in waterlogged (water sitting on the soil surface or pooled in the bottom of the hole) or frozen (too hard to get the spade in) soil.

Container-grown plants can be planted any time of the year, but are easier to care for if planted in autumn or winter, as they need less watering than ones planted in spring or summer.

Bare-root and rootballed trees and shrubs are only available in autumn and winter. They should be planted immediately, but if this is not possible, then they can be heeled in (temporary planting in the soil to prevent the roots drying out) until planting is possible."
Paul Birch
Paul Birch The plants will be going in next week. Al the works are completed so they can carry out the planting.
Elaine James
Elaine James Staggered railings across by the granite posts would seem the minimum immediate adjustment.
Ken Townend
Ken Townend Totally agree with staggered railings. Some moron is bound to try to drive up there. Just imagine the Sat Nav saying, "Take the first Exit, Off the Roundabout", when they are driving from PZ.
Paul Birch
Paul Birch Incidentally, all the weeds under the viaduct themselves couldn't be removed as Railtrack who own that land would not let cormac remove them.
Tracy Johnson
Tracy Johnson Omg does anyone on the bleddy council have an ounce of common sense ??
Graham Coad
Graham Coad Hayle Town Council = YES! :) Cornwall Council? I wonder sometimes....... :P
Ken Townend
Ken Townend I cannot believe HTC did not have any say on this. If not then why bother having you. So many things going wrong and HTC never put their hands up to say we got it wrong.
Sam Dietz
Sam Dietz Nick Farrar can you do something about this before someone gets hurt?
Nick Farrar
Nick Farrar Hi Sam, I'm going to wait until it is finished to judge what my reaction will be, we don't know what if any safety measures are planned, I'm not going to guess or contribute anymore until I've had time to see it for myself and look again at the plans we were shown some time ago. Sorry for being vague but I'm not in the guessing game. X
Graham Coad
Graham Coad Ken, Cornwall Council are THE planning authority for Cornwall, and Hayle Town Council get consulted for our opinion.

The Isis gardens layout and pedestrian linked access to Foundry Square was part of the overall South Quay/Supermarket planning applica
tion from 2010, no one complained about it then

Hayle Town Council were consulted twice on this but came to different conclusions so CC went ahead with their best guess plans.

I DID post this online ages ago, with a plan, but it did not seem to generate much interest.
Graham Coad
Ken Townend
Ken Townend Never saw it. But still a totally incompetent idea that HTC should have fought against. They knocked the wall down when doing the bridge I believe. The iron railings went missing and some Numpty, most likely decided then, it would be a great idea to have an entrance, straight onto a busy roundabout. When the first accident happens, no doubt you will all deny you ever wanted it. Are they going to alter the roundabout? (I know, how about a Pelican Crossing over it. That, HTC, is about as stupid an idea as the opening is).
Graham Coad
Graham Coad Like I said Ken, it was planned back in 2010.

It is no different to the existing crossing from Lloyds to Barclays, used for years with no problems!
Ken Townend
Ken Townend It is very different Graham. As on this one, the drivers approaching it will have their attention on traffic from the right, and may miss someone exiting from the gardens. Most local drivers hopefully, will know the new crossing, but summer visitors in their rush to get from A to B, may not be as careful.
Ana Coelho Bailie
Ana Coelho Bailie Why did they use so much concrete/ cement or whatever?? Specially on those walls, couldn't have they been built purely with stones? It looks awful. Concrete garden. Poor design.
Ana Coelho Bailie
Ana Coelho Bailie No comments on the access, unless they build a bridge over the roundabout. There was no need whatsoever for that access to be there.
Beryl Bez Smith Curran
Beryl Bez Smith Curran As you can see this subject was posted on here and Did get a lot of response

Beryl Bez Smith Curran Sorry posted these wrong way round. Post from 3rd May 15
Graham Coad
Graham Coad Hardly anyone objected to the plans though Beryl, which is what I mean.. you have to write to or email the planning department or comment directly on the plans on the Cornwall Council Planning website.
Ken Townend
Ken Townend HTC should have had the sense to object. Used to be a nice enclosed space to sit. Now it's like a concrete thoroughfare. No peace there.
Graham Coad
Graham Coad You have so much to comment on now Ken, where were you when the planning application for this was being considered in outline in 2010 and in detail more recently?
THEN was the time when your input would have counted, yet you had nothing to say then.

For the benefit of shoppers, casual users of South Quay, and to benefit the existing shops and businesses in Foundry area, it was proposed to open a thoroughfare to directly link South Quay with Foundry Square so that it is an integrated public area for the benefit of all, and to compensate the existing traders by encouraging more footfall from amongst ASDA shoppers.

I personally think it will be great for the town, and that the architect will be praised when it's all complete.

Whereas some of the Hayle Town Councillors suggested some alterations, which were taken into account, I don't recall anyone speaking against the overall scheme.
Ken Townend
Ken Townend So You were all for it. Now we know. I thought that was the case. Thanks for that.
Sharon Johnson
Sharon Johnson one thing I did notice is there is no drainage provided to catch the water that will run off the concrete slope straight onto the road.....
Graham Coad
Graham Coad Sharon is there not a drain immediately beside it?
Stephen Cornish
Sharon Johnson
Sharon Johnson I take it all back couldnt see them clearly........
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish Neither could I. I had to zoom in :-)
Nick Farrar
Nick Farrar Can I take that no-one has actually taken the time to look at the plans for themselves, which show bollards to be positioned on the ramp, similar to the ones outside ASDA on the road side.
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish Of course :) What's the fun in looking??? :P
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish Just looked through plan. Can't see bollards mentioned on that part, unless I've missed it?
Nick Farrar
Stephen Cornish
Nick Farrar
Nick Farrar Yep number 4 denotes a bollard
Stephen Cornish
Nick Farrar
Nick Farrar And also from the Cornwall Council website, I copy Hayle Town Councils comments from 22 July 2015 when we were consulted on the plan....."Hayle Town Council objects to the crossing and refuge to Lloyds Bank on the
grounds of safety and asks that the cr
ossing to the Salt Bar be retained and
requires another from Isis Gardens to the Spar. The Town Council also regrets the
loss of the raised table traffic calming originally proposed and asks that other traffic
calming measures be considered." We were over ruled by the planning officer who also took advice from the Highways department, which gave the scheme a thumbs up.
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish Dammit. I was just doing that :p
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish An artist's impression would have been nice. Can't see any in the documentation. The plans involve a lot of zooming :/ Anyhow, I've no real objections anyways :)
Beryl Bez Smith Curran
Beryl Bez Smith Curran So HTC input was ignored What a shame
Stephen Cornish
Stephen Cornish That's not a reflection on HTC. It's that CC always listen to their "experts".
Ken Townend
Ken Townend Take it all back HTC. At least some of you tried.
