Minutes for: Defibrillator-Community Meeting 18:30 Mon 19 Oct; Community Centre; to discuss 4 defibrillators in village-Support needed! from 19 Oct 2026 - 18:30 to 19 Oct 2026 - 18:30
Attendees:
Your Village Defibrillators need you!!!!!
As you are probably aware there are 4 defibs strategically placed around the village with most residents being within 250m of a defb. They can be used if someone has a cardiac arrest which is potentially fatal to the patientThe defibrillators are in yellow boxes located at; -
1) Community Centre - Grist Lane
2) Angarrack Inn- Steamers Hill- To the right of the main entrance.
3) From the crossroads go along Riverside, on the left-hand side pass the VIADUCT
4) Far end of Riverside where the cars turn around by Trungle Mill
The first defib was funded by money donated by village residents and the remaining 3 from grants from various organisations in total over £6000 was raised some years ago.
Although none of the defibs have been used in anger, they have on several occasions been taken to the scene of a potential patient.
We must also look at maintaining these units and have just spent about £700 on repairing two of the 4 defibs. We are projecting costs of about £1000 in the next two years on replacement pads and batteries. We may need to look at replacing the other defibs over the coming years. We are potentially looking over a 10-year period, a cost of £10,000 There are about 170 households in the village, if we could get around 100 of these household to donate £10 per year (19p per week) or if every household contributed £5 per year (less than 10p per week) we would be able to maintain and replace them.
If we the villagers do not maintain / replace them, we will lose them and their potential lifesaving capability !!!
The Angarrack Community Centre, which is a registered charity with a bank account, has offered to coordinate and hold the funds which will be strictly used for the upkeep of the defibs. The easiest way to keep these defibs operational is to contribute by: -
- Setting up an annual recurring payment standing order via your bank account ot he Angarrack Community Centre bank account [details on leaflet delivered] clearly making the payment reference Defib
- Standing orders and transfer can be actioned on you online/telephone bankng.
We hope that you will be able to contribute and keep this equipment operational and ready for immediate use. You could also contribute by; -
Making a cash or cheque donation made payable to Angarrack community Centre and place in an envelope marked Defibs and return to the Treasurer April, at 2 Angarrack Mews, Grist Lane.
The final method is to ask one of Malcom Bryant; Colin Hatch; Andew James or Mark Bolt to call upon you to collect any donation.. [details on leaflet delivered]
