Hayle’s rich and fascinating history is to be compiled once again into a book.
Churks, Clidgy and Doodle-Dashers - Hayle Tales and Trails, a book which aims to preserve and share memories of life in Hayle, Cornwall, through the ages, is set to enjoy its third edition printing.
The new edition, the first one of which was published in 2010, boasts freshly unearthed historic photographs and essays from first-time contributors.

Published by the Harvey’s Foundry Trust and Lucy Frears from the Hayle Oral History Project, the book is a compendium of all things to do with life in the Cornish town, its heavy industries and beaches.
Daisy Culmer, curator of the Hayle Heritage Centre, said: “A decade on from its first release, the latest edition of Churks, Clidgy and Doodle-Dashers offers new perspectives on the history of this remarkable town – from the mighty industries that once dominated its landscape to the lives of ordinary people and everyday experiences.
"It also provides an insight into the ways in which we care for and interpret Hayle’s heritage. This is a must for every bookshelf.”
The book was compiled together after the publishes spent hours and hours interviewing residents about what life was like just off the Towans.
Lucy Frears said: “Hayle is a small town with a big story to tell.
"Many of the captivating, enlightening and often heart-warming stories have been mapped onto suggested walks in the town and surrounding areas so that the reader can experience the places where they happened.”
The Third Edition of Churks, Clidgy and Doodle-Dashers is available to buy online exclusively at www.hayleheritagecentre.org.uk for £8.99 plus postage.
