Hayle Supermarket Decision Posted 12:33pm 9th February 2011. Hayle waits for a result in the battle of the supermarkets. Planners are deciding on applications from four big stores. Some locals are worried the extra competition will mean job losses. Market trader Shelley sees both sides: "I don't mind that there's another supermarket, I think it's quite competitive. So, I'm not against that, but it would be nice to be included in their plans. I think it will affect small businesses like the greengrocer or the butcher. But on the other hand it is a good opportunity for jobs and to make it a bit more vibrant really and not just a 'pass through' town."
